Dopo gli errori in Repubblica Ceca e Austria, lo spagnolo della Ducati firma la pole nel GP d’Ungheria, quattordicesimo round del Mondiale MotoGP. Il leader iridato chiude primo con il tempo di 1’36″518. Scatterà accanto a due italiani, entrambi promossi dal Q1: Marco Bezzecchi è secondo con la sua Aprilia, distante 290 millesimi, mentre Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Ducati) ottiene il terzo tempo a 354 millesimi. C’è tanta Italia anche nella seconda fila, aperta da Enea Bastianini (Tech3 Ktm), ottimo quarto. Quinto Franco Morbidelli (VR46 Ducati). Qualifiche disastrose per Bagnaia: Francesco fatica a realizzare un giro valido e alla fine si classifica quindicesimo. “Non riesco a guidare questa moto”, ammette deluso il pilota italiano ai box. In difficoltà anche il campione in carica Jorge Martin, solo diciassettesimo.
